Cherie McCord

Commissioner

Cherie McCord brings experience in entrepreneurship to the Washington County Commission for Women.

Born in Germany, Cherie McCord is the daughter of a Ft. Richie soldier. She was raised in Hagerstown, MD. Following her high school graduation, she pursued her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Towson University, where she would also remain to complete her Master's in Health Care Administration.

While pursuing her higher educational degrees, she became passionate about diversity and inclusion, ultimately leading her to work with diverse populations throughout her career. As one of the newest members of the Washington County Women’s Commission, she’s become a thriving entrepreneur today in the local community that promotes diversity and inclusion, and support for all.

Before her current job titles and entrepreneurial ventures, Cherie worked for eight years as a Supervising Service Coordinator at Service Coordination Inc. The agency provides case management services to individuals with disabilities. Since June 2021, Cherie has worked as the Operations Manager for Legit Management, a residential and commercial property management company.

Owned by her fiancé, Legit Management manages properties and helps local businesses with their property management needs. Her experience in managing property and love of art slowly blossomed into a desire to open a space for creatives to display their work to earn money for their talents.

As a result of this vision, Cherie is also the proud owner of Blooms Alley, an artisan market located in the Greenwood District of Hagerstown. Blooms Alley was a passion project that has quickly become a top spot in town for consignment items, where creatives and artists come to sell their talents. From artwork to clothing to other handmade designs, Blooms Alley is the place to find unique art and creations from the local artisans of Hagerstown.

Aside from her work with Legit Management and Blooms Alley, Cherie and her fiancé are also working on creating a larger community that houses their businesses: The Greenwood District. This is an inclusive and diverse community whose sole mission is to support minorities in their entrepreneurship journeys.

For Cherie, her work has always been about promoting and supporting Hagerstown's local, diverse community. That has led her to join the Washington County Women's Commission, where she can continue to impact her local community.  As part of the Washington County Women's Commission, Cherie's focus is—of course—on supporting and empowering women, but more importantly, on supporting female-owned small businesses and artists in the area in need of resources and guidance. Her experience and entrepreneurship journey has allowed her to gain skills and resources to help drive creatives and business owners to success.

With her experience in case management, she more than adequately supports creatives, artists, and small business owners. Cherie is passionate about diversity, inclusion, artists, creatives, and entrepreneurs, and she’s excited to continue to help local women as part of the Washington Country Women’s Commission.

Cherie resides in Hagerstown with her fiancé and her seven-year-old son.

Let's Grow Together!
